Three Smoothie Recipes For Easy Energy + Digestion

Happy Tuesday!



December is always so crazy and sometimes I forget to take the time to slow down and enjoy the last moments of the year. I’m a procrastinator and have not finished my holiday shopping yet!



I love December because there are so many moments where you get to be with those you love. This past weekend, I was able to spend time with my grandma and aunts, attending a musical. Then I had my work holiday party followed by Friendsgiving in Chicago!



Later this month I have my brother’s 21st birthday, two ski trips, and Christmas Eve- my favorite day of the year that I get to spend with my family and best friends! We drink, play games, and eat our way through holiday cookies.



December also brings a slight turn in routine for me. With all the parties and festivities brings more drinking and eating things out of the norm- I by no means am complaining as I could 100% choose not to engage in drinking but it’s definitely out of the ordinary for me and not something my body is used to. It’s hard to get back on track when you feel yucky and gross a night (or weekend) after drinking, but I know I’ll feel better getting back on track during the week, resetting my body.



One of my favorite post-indulgent meals is a smoothie bowl! (of course after all the eggs, bacon, potatoes and bread your body loves after drinking)




I love smoothie bowls because they are easy on your digestion- which be honest, even if you don’t deal with digestive distress, your bowls are a little funky after alcohol. Plus, it’s an easy way to get your greens, a healthy source of fat, proteins and carbs. I know you're thinking the last thing you want in winter is a cold smoothie, but let the coffee do the warming up and the smoothie the fueling up.



I have been obsessed with smoothies for as long as I can remember and have them a few times a week. Some people don’t like to use them as meal supplements, but for me I love it because they ease my digestion and keep me full for a few hours!



I have created my own recipes over the past few years and have a few originals I stick to! So here’s to three smoothie recipes that will keep you sane this last month of the year!



CLEAN SLATE



Serves: 2

2 cups of water (or nut milk)

2 TBSP vanilla Tropeaka

1 TBSP chia seeds

2 TBSP cashews (or nut butter)

1 TSP spirulina

Large handful of spinach

1 banana

2 cups of ice






MORNING ROUTINE



Serves: 2

1 cup of cold brew

1 cup of water (or nut milk)

1 TBSP cacao powder

1 TBSP chia seeds

1 banana

1 TBSP almond butter/cashew butter

1 date (optional)

1 TBSP goji berries

1 cup of ice






DECEMBER MINT



Serves: 2

1 cup of ice

1 cup of water (or nut milk)

1 TSP matcha powder

2 TBSP cacao nibs

Large handful of spinach

1 banana

1 TBSP hemp seeds

Few drops of peppermint oil (as you desire)

1 TBSP vanilla Tropeaka (optional)





Directions

First add in your water/nut milk and then banana (can be frozen) then add in other ingredients but making sure you add in spinach last. Blend together until well combined. Lastly, add in your ice and blend until desired consistency!



Toppings

(optional):

-Cacao nibs

-Goji berries

-Nuts/seeds

-Fresh fruit
